FUNCTIONAL TEAM LEAD – SOCIAL

  • The Integrated Functional Lead – Social is a role that manages a team responsible for supporting social media efforts across Microsoft’s regional and commercial market areas.
  • This leadership role oversees a team of social media coordinators who cover various aspects of social media, including social listening and community engagement.
  • The team closely monitors Microsoft’s customers and competitors, providing valuable insights that contribute to the understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem.

Core day-to-day responsibilities of the role include:

  • Functional Team Management: Oversee and manage the social function and team, including onboarding and development. Lead weekly functional community calls to connect the team with initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with area leads and the CMO on social media execution. Provide advice to area HQ on social media guidelines and collaborate with area PR and communications teams on social media initiatives.
  • Social Strategy & Consultancy: Ensure team members are familiar with media guidelines and governance. Work with the Data & Insights team to evaluate campaign results and provide input on content quality to the communications team. Ensure brand compliance and support the area in PR crisis situations in collaboration with local PR and communications agencies.
  • Best Practice Sharing: Curate and showcase area insights and best practices. Collaborate with peers from other markets to capture global best practices.

Required Competencies/Skills:

  • Proven skills in written and verbal communications.
  • Basic business, systems, and process analysis.
  • Demonstrated understanding of social media, related tools, and best practices.
  • Ability to articulate and evangelize services with stakeholders.
  • Relationship management, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft brand and products.

Required Experience:

  • University degree.
  • 4-7 years of solid marketing communications experience (agency or client-side) with a focus on social media.
  • People/team management experience is required.
