Localization Talent Manager

As a Localization Talent Manager, your role is to effectively manage the talent pool for localization projects and ensure the successful recruitment and performance management of freelance creative directors, translators, proofreaders, copywriters, and editors. You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and global offices to meet client requirements and deliver exceptional customer experiences. The following are key responsibilities and requirements for the role:

Key Responsibilities:

Client:

  • Understand specific client requirements to recruit the appropriate talent for the account.

Process:

  • Recruit new freelance talent, including creative directors, translators, proofreaders, copywriters, and editors, and oversee the testing and evaluation process.
  • Maintain an updated freelancer talent database with accurate information on status, rates, and experience for efficient identification by transcreation teams.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the talent pool across different markets and accounts.
  • Track freelancers’ performance and collaborate with transcreation teams to address any performance issues through additional testing, clearer briefings, or reminders of engagement terms.
  • Support account teams and global offices in talent search and acquisition.
  • Ensure agreement on terms with new freelancers before commencing work and manage necessary documentation such as New Supplier Forms (NSFs) and login details.
  • Address freelancers’ queries related to Wordbee (translation management system) and escalate technical issues to the CAT Ops team.
  • Responsively handle internal and external requests regarding Wordbee and freelancer resources.
  • Manage finance queries from freelancers and escalate major issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate storage of relevant information in the server, including tests, CVs, talent details, portfolios, and NSFs.
  • Train employees on the recruitment process, testing and evaluation phases, and ongoing performance monitoring of freelancers.
  • Continuously explore new recruitment sources, develop relationships with universities, and raise the profile of the company through networking and presentations.
  • Improve talent management processes to ensure collaboration with the best talents in the market.

Finance:

  • Negotiate freelancers’ rates based on specific account rates or company standards.
  • Resolve payment issues efficiently and handle communication with freelancers sensitively.
  • Create reports on key metrics such as talent sourcing, testing and evaluation, number of new freelancers recruited by account and market, negotiated rates with new talent, average rates per account and market, and usage of talent per freelancer, account, and market.

Professional Development:

  • Stay up-to-date with translation industry trends.
  • Work towards personal development goals agreed upon with the Global Lead, ensuring timely achievement of learning and development goals.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in recruiting international markets.
  • Fluent written and spoken English at a near-native level.
  • Demonstrable experience in client and stakeholder communication.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Competence in recruiting on LinkedIn and other recruitment sites.
  • Ideally, experience in recruiting Creative Directors, Copywriters, Translators, and/or Proofreaders globally.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly responsive to customer needs with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Sharp attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of CMS, Translation Management Systems, and Terminology Management.
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Languages, Translation Studies, or a related field.
